SIL494 3X4 FINE PERSIAN MAHI TABRIZ RUG

"The Mahi design is common for Tabriz style Persian rugs and is used in association with the Herati motif. The Mahi design is a fisheye representation inside the Persian rug's field, Mahi being the Persian word for fish. The Herati motif knows various representations, while here only just two are used. One of them is used for the Persian rug's field and the other one for the borders. The colors used are strong and naturally applied. The field background is black while the borders are ivory, feature that lightens the overall image of the Persian rug."

Tabriz Rugs
The rugs manufactured in the city of Tabriz also are of great finesse. Their predominant colors are red, blue and ivory. They offer strong contrasts in the rug’s image but also inspire serenity and beauty. Most are hand-knotted on a soft cotton foundation using a combination of wool and silk. Some of them show the common floral designed central medallion. Featuring different sizes and a perfect symmetry these rugs prove the skills of those who worked to manufacture them.
