"This image contrasts are evident at first glance. It is primarily the contrast between the carpet borders. The inner and outer borders are grey and the middle border is red. Strong contrast is created by means of the middle border that is red and the ivory background of the Persian rug. The medallion design combines colors from all of the borders. The middle border is crossed by Shah Abbasi motif the reason that lotus flowers are colored in gray and outlined in black. The general picture of the carpet is crowded but not tiring, leaving the viewer a very pleasant impression."
Isfahan Rugs
Isfahan has long been one of the most important manufacturing centers for Persian rugs. The rugs here are usually designed using an ivory background and the ornaments are symmetrical and balanced. We find in the central part of the rug a medallion that is surrounded by floral motifs and palmetto leaves. The quality of these rugs is very high and the colors used for the interior motifs are blue, brown, ivory, green and more, all of them featuring an obvious naturalness.
